The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, previously a voice of caution, is now openly threatening a military option. The Washington State Department of Licensing expects to issue the last 6-digit license plate number, 999998, by the end of the month. The state is keeping the 999999 as a potential heirloom that may be put on display sometime down the road. New motorcycle plates will begin with 0A0001. The department projects this number configuration will supply enough plates for the next 50 years. The DOL has been issuing plates with six numbers since 1975. The owner of the New York Daily News offered $580 million to acquire Newsday from Tribune Co., matching a bid earlier in the week by Rupert Murdoch's News Corp, The Associated Press was told.

ABC News' Teddy Davis and Talal Al-Khatib Report: The Democratic National Committee's Rules and Bylaws Committee will meet on Saturday, May 31 in Washington, D.C., to consider whether the DNC panel exceeded its authority when it stripped Florida and Michigan of all of its delegates for holding their primaries before Feb. 5th, 2008.
